Abstract
The general objective of this exploratory study is to investigate the knowledge, attitudes and opinions of pregnant women about the use of alcohol during pregnancy in Spain, France and Portugal. A qualitative methodology based on a phenomenological approach was used through semi-structured interviews to 63 women who were or had been pregnant (30 Spanish, 20 French and 18 Portuguese) proceeding subsequently to a semi- inductive approach to the data. The categorical and interpretative analysis of content was carried out with the help of the QSR-NVIVO v.11 program. The results show similarities in the three countries in terms of the lack of information received by health services about the consequences of alcohol consumption during pregnancy and differences in the type of alcohol ingested, absolute cessation during pregnancy and permissiveness in pregnancy recommendations. Due to the results obtained, we consider necessary to continue this line of research.
