Abstract

This exhibition of digital photography printed on tiles is a creative project by French digital artist Bastien Tomasini, also known as "The Gringo", which combines photography with the reinterpretation of two icons of Portuguese cultural tradition: Azulejo and Fado , both of which are associated in the exhibition space. Entitled "Hope beyond the horizon", it presents a set of pieces specifically designed for the project at the National Museum of Azulejo, with the aim of telling a love story, narrated from the point of view of a woman who sees her love depart for the sea. It is a story that speaks to us of hope, loneliness, longing, resilience, and overcoming. The title, taken from a poem by Gringo himself (which is part of the exhibition), is also simultaneously a choice that conveys an optimistic note regarding the outcome of the narrative, given the female character's ability to start anew.
