Abstract
Exploring the etymology of the term "euthanasia", one reflects upon the actual ontological dimensions of "life" and "death", trying to manifest their true reality, transcendent to the common psychological, sociological and legal dimensions. Through the legacy of some select classical master literature works, one seeks to demonstrate the evolution of the sense of these notions that are founding of the possibility of human existence. One questions what the meaning of a "good death" might be, interrogating what suffering is, criticising the sense of death as a right. The understanding of that what suicide is as an act is sought.
