Abstract
Introduction: In Nursing teaching, the practical component was always present throughout training. Nursing students are required not only to have technical skills, but also emotional skills. It is important that they are prepared to face different challenges and demands, with resilience being a fundamental skill. Objective: To identify the strategies used by nursing students to increase resilience in a clinical context. Materials and Methods: This is an exploratory, descriptive study with a qualitative approach. Taking into account the objective of the study, it was decided to carry out a focus group for which a script was prepared. The study participants were students of the Nursing Degree Course whose inclusion criterion was: attending the 4th year of the course. 15 students participated in the study. The average age was 23 years old, the majority were female. Results: When analysing the data obtained, it is concluded that students identify different strategies that they use to increase resilience in a clinical context. They stated that seeking support from family, advisors, teachers, friends, sharing experiences, thoughts and feelings is the most used strategy to manage emotions. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that undergraduate nursing students are generally able to identify that resilience is an essential capacity, because it provides them with the necessary tools to face challenges, maintain emotional and mental well-being, and develop yourself both professionally and personally.
