Abstract

The recent studies on molecular biology and histochemistry bring new concepts about chronic wounds pathophysiology, and also the microbiology about the existence of the chronic wounds bed biofilmes. These new wound healing advances carry new concepts about therapeutic assessment. Really, the orientation of the chronic wounds management and treatment must be different of the acute wounds assessment and therapy. The European Wound Management Association (EWMA) consensual scheme TIME brings new ways to chronic wounds local management. The chronic wounds management must be oriented after global assessment of the patient, the wound aetiology and chronic wound assessment. Only with these parameters we can have a correct systemic and local wound management.
