Abstract
The teacher generalist is able to perform in-depth at a level of education which, in Portugal, has corresponded to early childhood education and primary education (1stcycle of basic education, from 1986) and focuses on the globalization of knowledge and integrated teaching. This article presents the results of a study that sought to determine to what extent the National Service Training Programs promote collaboration among teachers in the first cycle of basic education and practice of an integrated education?. Opting for a qualitative nature and methodology of a research strategy supported in the case study, we conducted semi-structured interviews, focusing our interest in teachers an din their relationship with the profession and the training and the tension between words and intentions of integration knowledge and practices of disciplinary fragmentation
