Abstract
Our study aims to identify the offer of specialized training for the exercise of the functions of school management in Portugal. It uses documental research and takes as corpus all the processes analyzed and accredited, between 1992 and 2017, by the Scientific-Pedagogical Council of Continuing Education, the entity that guarantees the continuous and specialized training of teachers. This analysis makes it possible to establish relationships between the public school management system in Portugal, the type of accredited course and the type of higher education institution (public or private; and university or polytechnic institute) that offers it. Finally, it is highlighted that the specialized training cannot be only consider as a requirement for the access to the school management but should be part of an integrated, continuous training for the development of technical, conceptual and relational skills.
