Abstract
This article begins by approching the historical and literary character of Hesiod. The general intent is to sketch a comparative analysis of the works of Hesiod and Homer. I shall be touching the social, ideological and mythical bacground these literary works reflect. And also the use of traditional epic formulary as this affects the poetic reference to common, physical realities (the land, the sea, the islands and the Olympus, the ships, the weapons, the fire and the banquet, the wine, the night, the animals, men and gods). I also mean to show how the traditional epic formulary affects that reality wich is of the order of the soul (the flowing of time, suffering, mortality ... ).
