Inquirição e pedagogia: a virtude de questionar no contexto da sala de aula

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

This paper makes a case for the ‘logic of question and answer’, proposed by R. G. Collingwood, and the consequent necessity to develop a pedagogical relationship in the classroom that promotes the intellectual virtue of inquisitiveness. The argument will be developed taking into consideration the pedagogical approaches of the Ignatian Pedagogical Paradigm, Problem- Based Learning and Education for Intellectual Virtues. I will begin by identifying the nature of questioning and then distinguish virtuous questioning from vicious questioning. Finally, I will analyze the importance of using dialogical strategies in the classroom for the acquisition and development of inquisitiveness. Some pedagogical activities will be proposed and I will conclude the paper by defending exemplarism against Lani Watson’s objection.
