Abstract

The Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (Eras) programme has recently been implemented in Portugal, providing new guidelines in the intraoperative phase as well as an innovative nursing role, that of Eras coordinator. Interventions specific to this early rehabilitation programme and coordination are presented in the context of colorectal surgery. The objective is to contribute to the development of scientific nursing knowledge for the benefit of patients undergoing elective surgery.
