Abstract

2019 marks the return of BlacKoyote. The new release, IO, succeeds his 2011 debut, Blac Koyote, and the 2014 album, Quiet Ensemble, and was recorded with the participation of the saxophonist Henrique Portovedo. IO, one of the four largest moons of Jupiter that, although located in an icy region, is characterized by being a place with the greater volcanic activity of the Solar System. It is that extreme environment that inspires this record. Starting from the manipulation and deconstruction of the rich and hypnotic timbre of the baritone saxophone, this record is a single breath piece, a patient work of innumerable layers, influenced by the science fiction universe and strongly marked by the introspective tones present throughout BlacKoyote's work. IO physical release consists in an ultra-limited edition of 100 unique and numbered CDs designed by André Covas. It comes out via PAD / Easy Pieces in collaboration with Cosmic Burger.
