Abstract
Mobile journalism, also called mojo, has been developing itself with advances in digital communication technologies, especially smartphones, and has contributed to creating new ways of producing journalistic content. The main objective of this work is to investigate mojo as a new journalistic technique, highlighting three characteristics: agility, flexibility and accessibility. The hypotheses are: the mobile journalist is able to produce journalistic content faster and in a variety of formats, in addition to having easier access to the remote locations and to characters for interviews. This investigation also covers the relationship between the use of smartphones and the individualization of the journalist's work, since this mobile technology allows the entire cycle of news production - production, editing and distribution - to be carried out on the same device. Furthermore, the specialties of mojo allow an adaptation to the requirements of cross-media and transmedia narratives, which cross different platforms and develop in different formats, in a more interactive way with the public. So, to test the research hypotheses, a mixed methodology was used, with an online questionnaire, which obtained 53 responses, and four interviews with mojo specialists. The results can be seen in the data analysis sections and at the conclusion of this work. And the results were favourable to the hypotheses, however, with the mainly proviso that the mojo needs and have space to invest and advance in the quality of the materials they have produced.
