Abstract

The objective of this article is to offer a general overview of the integration processes of the Turkish minority in present-day Germany. Through association and argumentation, we traverse several levels of analysis in order to approach, very flexibly, a complex sociocultural phenomenon which can be interpreted from diverse points of view. Foreign Germanists come in touch with these processes not only through academia but also through very diverse literary forms, visual and artistic discourse, publicity, as well as through the Internet, music, the so-called popular culture and television. Finally, we analyze the works of two important authors of Turkish origin, Zafer Senocak and Feridun Zaimoglu, who, from radically opposite positions, share the same ideal: Turkish-German integration.
