Abstract
This article focuses on the transnational mediatic war between the Portuguese TV channel Televisão Independente (TVI), national audience leader, and the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God (IURD), the most important Brazilian neo-Pentecostal evangelical institution in Portugal. By taking the videos produced by these institutions as our object of study, we develop a dialectical analysis of words and images that have configured this audio-visual war of information. More precisely, we study the journalistic forms and logics of IURD’s crisis communication, which raises questions about the manipulation of the concept of fake news and conspiracy/complot theories.
