Abstract

The increasing use of mobile devices and their evolution, with the appearance of integrated digital cameras and location and orientation sensors, encourage the development of new forms of interaction with the devices and can also optimize queries to the available information. In this paper, we present and evaluate an interactive point of interest query interface, which is based not only on the location of the user, but also on his orientation. Besides providing a different query interface, the interaction provided can be used as a complement to the presentation of points of interest on a map, helping identify the association between the icons drawn on a map, and the corresponding real world objects in the neighbourhood of the user.
