Abstract
The present invention describes a process for obtaining granular biomass composed of microalgae and bacteria for application in the biological treatment of wastewater. The consortium of microorganisms used as an inoculum is made up of a suspension of photosynthetic microorganisms and other microorganisms capable of degrading organic matter. The granulation process takes place without the need for an immobilization matrix through a process of selecting microorganisms with the capacity for self-aggregation. The process is carried out in a cylindrical reactor operating in sequential batches in the presence of artificial light and under hydrodynamic conditions.
