Abstract

Machiavelli puts religion under the politics. Taking the Roman antiquity like an example, he tells that the pagan religion is the best way to manipulate the political power. Rejects the theological approach but recognizes the Christian virtue. The secret for unity, motivation and participation in a country is in the fear of God. In Machiavelli’s political thought, religion promotes unity, peace and is a big instrument to achive and maintain the political power.
