Abstract

This study assesses the relevance of managers’ support in a telework context. The relationships between managers’ support and teleworkers’ motivation and satisfaction were analyzed through a structural equations model, with a sample of 748 professionals. We found that managers’ support is positively associated with the satisfaction of the basic psychological needs of autonomy, competence, and relationship as well as with job satisfaction. In turn, the satisfaction of the basic psychological needs mediates between managers’ support and job satisfaction. Overall, the model explains 46,1% of the variance of teleworkers’ job satisfaction.
