Abstract
Almost eight decades after the official ending of the Brazilian Integralist Action (Ação Integralista Brasileira -AIB), we might be led to thinking that this subject had been thoroughly researched and exhaustingly problematized. AIB was present in many Brazilian states and created a bureaucratic collection of such large proportions that, even after the destruction of various documents, it continues to bring forth revealing facts for the study of Integralism. This essay aims to bring to light a lesser discussed topic: identifying how many Brazilian people joined Integralism, given the imprecise numbers found in historiography, ranging from five hundred thousand to a million and a half. This research focuses on quantitative data in order to contribute to new studies about the AIB.
Translated title of the contribution | "There is no shame in being two hundred thousand": living an illusion with the true numbers of integralism. The PRP as an answer to the new brazilian reality |
