Abstract

The present chapter deals with the evolution of bioactive ceramics used as scaffolds, implant coatings, and drug-loading system for bone healing. In fact, the discovery of bioactive glass was the starting point for the development of several bioactive ceramics in the biomedical field. Some relevant available bioactive ceramics are reported along this chapter.
