The purpose of this paper is analyzing Helen, the Argive, queen of Sparta, daughter of Leda, as a feminine character with a particular relevance in the mythical‑literary repertoire of the Antiquity: taking as literary starting point the Homeric poems (heirs to a long narrative tradition that the authors used in the Cyclic Poems, particularly in those related with the Trojan Cycle), this analysis will also try to study the path of poetical re‑elaboration to which later works of the Greek literature (mainly those of the archaic lyric poets and the Athenian tragics) subjected her image, repositioning with particular acuteness the problem of her moral responsibility
