Novas regras para a internet: notas breves sobre iniciativas europeias de regulação de plataformas digitais

Research output: Contribution to journalArticle

Abstract

Digital platforms assume an increasingly important societal and economic role. In the process of building a Digital Single Market the European lawmaker has focused part of its efforts on regulating them. This text critically analyses the proposals for a “Digital Services Act” and a “Digital Markets Act” as well as Regulation 2019/1150 of 20 June 2019 on promoting fairness and transparency for professional users of online intermediation services (P2B Regulation). It concludes that an overly complex approach may prove counterproductive and dangerous.
