O Orpheu ou o 'momento histórico' da modernidade / modernização sociocultural em Portugal

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

Modernism is generally seen as an artistic movement shaped or initiated by the rapid development of modern industrial societies or by the fast urbanization during the first decades of the 20th century. Although this assumption is correct, we can find some significant cases that suggest the opposite. The main objective of this article is to show that the little modernist magazine Orpheu was thought – mainly by Fernando Pessoa – as a historical key-‐‑moment for the sociocultural modernization of Portugal.
