Abstract

In the aftermath of the 2010 European debt crisis, the practice of inducements by investment firms in relation to the provision of investment services to their clients has been an exceedingly controversial subject. Despite being a common practice of day-to day conduct of business by financial institutions, the receiving of inducements payed by a third party has been widely regarded as a major factor from which conflicts of interest might arise between the investment firm and the client.
