Abstract

This work fulfills the requirements of a doctoral dissertation in educational sciences, with a specialization in social pedagogy and the participation of actors in the processes of socio-territorial development. The case study investigate the participation of the socio-educational actors in the process of building the national curriculum primary education in East Timor. The study seeks to understand and interpret how particular actors are mobilized along with their motivations and origins, while seeking to identify dynamics and models of participation, highlighting their results and constraints. In order to substantiate the theoretical framework, a bibliographic review was made using reference authors in the fields of participation, development, social pedagogy and curriculum development. From the empirical point of view, a case study methodology was followed, framed by the critical and interpretative paradigm, based on the use of documentary research and the inquiry of actors. The data collected and analyzed show that the process of curriculum construction reveals itself as an anthropological “place” for meeting, welcoming and hospitality, where qualified participation of local actors leads to greater curriculum relevance and contextualization. However, considering some issues was a "place" requiring more discussion, meditation and consensus.
