In the present communication the authors evaluate the relative success of the Braga European Youth Capital 2012 (EYC 2012) approached through the perception of participants in five of its events. Specifically, the aim was to capture the opinion of respondents about the way the activities of the EYC 2012 were being performed, as well the perceived impacts of this mega event and the participation in it they had by the time of the survey was implemented. The questionnaires were applied between October and December 2012 to a sample of 512 local residents and visitors. The inquiry was completed in January 2013 by the implementation of a Focus Group. From the results, the authors got the indication that the EYC did not attract a relevant amount of visitors. The youth showed to be the age group more represented in the sample (59% between 10 and 29 years old), and the one that tended to be more positive on the assessment of the EYC 2012 that was made, as well the women when compared to mails.
