Abstract

The present study discusses, in an abbreviated form, the characterisation of a baroque ethos by literature, especially born out of the Marxist-inspired sociological approach (Bolívar Echevarría). We propose to present a complex baroque in space (European, American and Eastern) and time (before and after the Peace of Westphalia). This complexity is increased by the rupture of man's project of understanding the relationship between the natural and supernatural order within the framework of the creation story.
