Abstract
This article presents a set of partial results obtained under a research project whose main goal was to understand how Portuguese Higher Education students are using online contents. Following the presentation of the theoretical framework, we will describe the project itself, as well as our methodological options. The results specifically related to how the students access and use the Internet will then be presented. In order to achieve the objectives that were previously outlined, we provided an online questionnaire. 164 students, with an average age of 19,6, from 3 of the IPV organic units, have participated in the survey. The results achieved show that students access the Internet on a daily basis, especially to use social networks and to research different types of information using mainly their mobile phones and laptops These results confirm the strong presence of technology and social media in young people’s everyday lives, a strong presence which grants them with an intense and participative communicational dynamics.
