"Pica pau, Bob Marley e o Chaves": hibridismo no funk paulista

This communication analyzes the song Nunca Vendeu Maconha (“Never Sold Marijuana”), authored composition by MC Daleste and MC Yoshi. The song portrays the practice of cannabis use, and reports the hallucinogenic and sensory experiences, using a lot of humor and irony. It is a complex composition that mixes diverse elements that probe the daily life of the brazilian periphery, elements of mass culture, national and international, are articulated in the letter, and the rhythmic and melodic elements are also clippings of other funk compositions. The song is relatively young, it was released in 2011, only in digital platform, was spread mainly through the internet, via download or streaming. The goal is to understand how the melds found in music relate to the daily life of their listeners, as we ll as a reading of the cultural identity that is imprinted in the song. We start from the assumption that since the 1960s, the individual, his behavior and his identity are the topics on the agenda in cultural discussions. In this sense, we propose the challenge of thinking about the song in the approach of Cultural History, which starts from the culture, the work, so that one can think of the social, but in an approach of the present time. We also use the approaches of theorists Néstor Garcia Canclini and Jesus Martin-Barbero, so that we can better analyze the various cuts and cultural matrices that are inscribed in the work and how they relate dialectically with their consumers.
