Abstract

This project is a case study of the translation department of RTP. Based exclusively on interviews applied to the professionals of the several subdepartments - from news translation to subtitling and dubbing -, the work looks to demonstrate and explain the several steps taken since an audiovisual content, written in a foreign language, is bought by the Portuguese broadcaster until it is transmitted to the public, translated into European Portuguese. A particular focus is put in the final stage of the process (revision), given that it is a task assumed by RTP as fundamental in the translational work, in the whole - a position not followed by all the companies active in today's audiovisual panorama.
