Promoção da saúde nos adolescentes portugueses: orientações técnicas e políticas para uma intervenção - Exercício Delphi

Abstract

This article aims to identify more or less relevant ideas and scenarios in adolescent’s health promotion and education area, among nationally renowned experts, through a participatory methodology that generate consensus (where different specialists are involved and attempt to achieve a consensus among their ideas on the subject in question) - nominal group technique and Delphi method. The study was designed taking into account a combination of nominal group technique and the Delphi method. Initially, experts developed an issues’ set using the nominal group technique. With the aim of halving, this questions’ set was later evaluated by experts using working groups with between pairs agreement between. It was developed a support framework in order to create evaluative questions, selection criteria and indicators for the subject under discussion. Then the research team reviewed 100 questions and developed an instrument, proposing these sentences to be rated on a Likert scale (1-5) and then grouped by categories. Subsequently the pre-selected questions were submitted to a national renowned expert group, through the Delphi method. The main consensus conclusions obtained were grouped into personals issues, issues related to family, school-related, and society in general, and framed into two categories: important issues and irrelevant questions. It is also discussed main implications for health education policy.
