Abstract

The objective of this study was to evaluate the psychometric characteristics of the Inventário de Processos de Aprendizagem (IPA-s) / Learning Preocesses Inventroy (ILP-s); Duarte, 2002) in secondary school students. Participated in this study 833 high school students. The ILP-s comprises 48 items, with Likert-type responses with five values. The questionnaire items are divided into eight scales. Four scales measure motivation (intrinsic motivation, Instrumental Motivation, Achievement Motivation Type 1: Classifications, Achievement Motivation Type 2: Competition) and four scales assess learning strategies (Strategy Surface, Depth Strategy, Strategy 1 and Strategy Organization Organization 2). The results shows that the instrument for high school students has a factor structure similar to the original instrument, with the exception of Instrumental Motivation and Strategies for Organization 2 scales that saturate the same factor. The instrument also has appropriate levels of internal consistency. Future studies should clarify the differences found in this study on Instrumental Motivation and Strategies of Organization 2 factors.
