Abstract
Given the rapid and booming development of information and communication technologies, in this article, we propose, from the point of view of the foreign language teacher, to try to answer the question: What reconfigurations are occurring in the field of foreign language teaching regarding the use of new digital media resources? In turn, this question is broken down into two others. On the one hand, what is new in foreign language teaching in terms of using digital media resources? The second question is: How is digital media reconfiguring the teaching of foreign languages, particularly Spanish? The article is divided into four main parts to answer these questions. In the first part of the paper, we deal with the reconfigurations occurring in teaching with new media resources; in the second, we analyze reconfigurations occurring in the area of cultural sciences; and in the third part, we review what points of contact or communicating vessels exist between language teaching and qualitative and quantitative research in digital environments. We end this epistemological journey by bringing it a little closer to praxis: reflecting on what developments may occur in the near future or are already currently occurring in the specific area that occupies us professionally, i.e., Spanish as a Foreign Language (ELE) and teacher training, but seen in the light of the Diploma in Spanish as a Second and Foreign Language, an extension course taught at Universidad Central de Venezuela.
