Abstract
Along the time, multiple authors have treated the topic of pain. Pain is the reaction to a personal loss and, although focused on the emotional response, it also has physical, social and behavioral dimensions. In this article, in an attempt to diversify the perspectives from which it is approached, I mention several reflections on the topic. References are made to very different writers, such as C. S. Lewis, who proposes a possible solution for the problem of pain, which so much anguish has caused to philosophers of every religion, when he declares that a world without pain is logically impossible; Martha Nussbaum, who thinks that the shame and aversion caused by punishment can also be considered as part of the concept of pain and Susan Sontag, with her vision of the horror and the suffering caused by war and their relation to the world of images. The article closes with some final comments about the perspectives that have been presented and about the topic of pain in general.
