Abstract

Introduction: The concept of appearing in the workplace, but being mentally absent during the work shift represents a negative impact for the professional and the institution. Objective of the study: To identify the relationship between presenteeism and violence in the workplace. Methodology: The integrative review took place in January 2019 in 3 databases: PubMed®, Medline® and b-ON®. An adequate research strategy was developed to identify the relevant studies that fit the inclusion criteria and 7 articles were included for study and further analysis of the data. Presentation and interpretation of results: It was inferred that presenteeism was related to a high risk of deteriorating health and well-being, with a long-term predisposition to give rise to absenteeism. Conclusion: presenteeism is present in the daily life of the workplace. Its assessment is subjective and barely visible, being difficult to quantify, however, it has high associated indirect costs.
