Abstract
Sexual assault is a cross-cutting problem that affects different societies. October 2017 was heralded as a turning point due to the emergence of the #MeToo movement. In this article, we intend to analyse data published by three Portuguese online newspapers to answer the question: 1) what is the representativeness of the movement in the Portuguese online press? News content was retrieved in order to ascertain: 2) the difference or similarity between the contents published by the online newspapers under analysis. We conclude that there is greater dissemination of information in the national news media regarding the impact of the movement on the international stage and little representativeness of the movement in the Portuguese setting.
