Abstract
The bucolic poem O Lima [1596] by Diogo Bernardes is permeated, among other topics, by the dominant theme of the feeling of exile, within the framework of a markedly melancholic and confessional poetry. Though studied mainly in other works of the poet, it appears relevant to analyze the theme of exile in O Lima as a literary topic enhanced by biographical circumstances, but also by the paradigmatic shadow of Ovid and by dominant codes of the Mannerist sensitivity.
