Tecnologias da informação e comunicação na inclusão de alunos com ataxia congénita não-progressiva - estudo de caso

Research output: Other contribution

Abstract

Inclusive Education, as an unavoidable actual educational paradigm, seeks to provide an adequate response to diversity and eliminate learning barriers, a perspective in which Information and Communication Technologies can play a preponderant role. Based on this assumption and for the achievement of a case study, two essential steps were outlined: first, we sought to deepen and understand the difficulties felt by the student, parents and teachers in the student's educational process; secondly, we sought to facilitate the use of the computer by the student, meeting their real needs, providing direct contact with easily accessible technological solutions, in order to outline a pedagogical intervention strategy using Information and Communication Technologies aimed at the difficulties identified in a student with non-progressive congenital ataxia. After verifying the student's ability in handling a computer using a trackball, an enlarged keyboard and the Windows accessibility tools, as well as acknowledging the teachers’ difficulties regarding the Universal Design for Learning and the multilevel approach, it was outlined a strategy based on three areas: equipment allocation, human resources training and teaching practice transforming.
