Abstract

The poetry of João Luís Barreto Guimarães in the book Movimento (2020) is distinguished by its focus on the ancient theme of time, omnipresent in the philosophical and poetic-literary tradition. Here, the craftsman poet of O Tempo Avança por Sílabas (2019) rewrites and sculpts the narrative of the poem and the book based on the architecture of the Days of the Week, in the shadow of the pagan symbolism of the stars present in the Roman designations, which the Portuguese designation erased. In terms of dramatic structure, the book is structured in seven days and with a variable dose of humor and melancholy, highlighting the inscription of daily life, this poem tells us about a cyclical time and a continuous movement. Each poem of this architecture can be read as a micro-narrative of everyday life. Significantly, it begins on Saturday (Saturn's day) and ends on Friday (Venus's day). After all, both life and art are daughters of Time (Chronos), not excluding the notion of opportune time (Kairos).
