Abstract

The present article intends to analyze the relationship between the publications of studies that involve Theology, Sciences of Religion and Human Rights and the Brazilian democratic scenario in the last evaluation quadrennium (2017-2020) of the 44 CAPES area of Religious Studies and Theology. From a systematic review, a qualitative study of an applied nature, it was elaborated with an exploratory objective of bibliographic procedure. In the qualitative analysis of the research, there is a common point of seeking dialogue and proposing ways to guarantee Human Rights in a plural context threatened by ideologies that are opposed to contemporary democratic systems. There is a need to deconstruct what no longer meets the current demand and look forward to strengthening democracy at risk of death as some theorists teach us. Thus, in the political, social and cultural spheres, societies must provide an adequate environment to welcome all people in their rich diversity and academic productions must meet the social demands of their time. In this sense, when we map the publications of articles on Human Rights related to periodicals in the Religious Studies and Theology Area, there is a low production about the theme, precisely 0.97% of the articles published in the journals of the area, which seems to indicate the need for a greater debate on such a neuralgic theme for the re-signification of a counter-hegemonic religious culture that promotes Human Rights in a democratic and plural society.
