Abstract

This article argues that an economy based on a common desire is able to generate practices that enrich communities instead of shareholders. This economy is based on many contributors who co-create value as commons. These commons, generate and share resources that are maintained and governed through a community of users. The open and contributory value practices of a pioneering peer production community of Enspiral will be explored in order to show the advantages of a more regenerative economy. Enspiral is a network of professionals and companies aiming to empower and support social entrepreneurship. The teams provide a wide range of services, including custom development of websites and applications, project management and services, all specialized in projects which aim to create social value. I argue that the focus of their activities is not extractive and profit oriented, but it is goal oriented towards its value practices, beyond the pressures of the capitalist market
