In this article, we give visibility to youth experiences of lockdown and emphasise the digital world's impact. We approached the issue by taking this phenomenon as a "total social fact" within the theoretical and methodological framework of digital sociology. We have conducted an exploratory study about the digital experience of 43 first-year undergraduates at Católica Porto Business School. Fresh from high school, the students wrote biographic narratives about their lives during the first wave of Covid-19 and the subsequent lockdown. The information clarified the role of social media during the confinement and the unique global fact of fully online teaching. The study revealed that the students who were already born during the Internet age were strongly related to the digital world and used social media to counter social isolation. They also suggest that after a while, social media started to make the students uncomfortable and exhausted. Moreover, online teaching started without previous preparation of schools, teachers and students. That entailed negative consequences. However, the dissatisfaction of students with online teaching seemed generalised because of unprepared schools and ill-adjusted teachers, as well as lack of concentration due to the proliferation of distractions.
