The "e-care da hipertensao" portal: a blended elearning proposal for hypertensive patients

Introduction: Hypertension can cause functional and structural changes in organs such as the brain, heart, blood vessels and kidneys if not treated properly and correctly. In this perspective, the use of educational technologies can be a tool to promote a process of teaching learning through Blended E-Learning (classroom teaching associated with the virtual environment of learning "E-Care of Hypertension.") Objective: To describe the use of "E-Care of Hypertension" in the Blended E-Learning modality to hypertensive patients. Method: A descriptive study, composed of 14 patients, using the digital educational resource "E-Care of Hypertension", every 20 days for 4 months (120 days), where at each nursing visit blood pressure, weight, circumference Abdominal and portal access was ratified with the presence of the nurse together with the patient promoting the embracement, reflections and contextualization about the contents approached. Seven nursing consultations were carried out in each of the 6 modules provided for the "E-Care of Hypertension", each module was assisted by accessing the moodle platform with Sansung10.1 tablet for the use of Wifi under the guidance of the professional nurse, at the end of each module the knowledge test was applied with questions referring to the content assisted in each module, and the alternatives of each question the patient chose the following statements: "the answer is right because I already knew", "the answer Is right because I learned in the consultations " or "I do not know why I did not learn". The Interactive Learning Objects (OAIs) were made available in HTLM5 configured by the Department of Telemedicine of the School of Medicine of the University of São Paulo. The research was took from December 2014 to March 2017, approved by the Ethics Committee of Heart Institution of Medical School of São Paulo University. Results: The predominant demographic characteristic of this study was male 08 (57%), black race 06 (42%), Catholic religion 10 (72%), married civil status 09 (64%), regarding schooling 06 patients (43%) had high school complete, the mean age was 53 ±10 years. Regarding the data presented for the anthropometric variables (14 patients) at the time of study start and at the end of 120 days, the population presented statistical difference for abdominal circumference when compared at the beginning of follow-up with the final study period 99,61 ± 10 vs. 99.69 ± 8cm (p = 0.006). Regarding the test of knowledge regarding the use of the "E-Care of Hypertension", it can be noted that the overall performance of patients' answers to the knowledge test was around 83.78%, which proves that it was satisfactory and it was found that in the majority of the answers indicated by the patients chose the option that contained the expression "I was right because I learned in the consultations". In face of this new modality of intervention inaugurates a new scenario and perspective for the improvement of therapeutic adherence, being that this resource can be used as a support to sensitize the patient and promote the improvement of healthy habits. Conclusion: The study showed that the use of hybrid educational technology, promotes improvements and can be an alternative to be perfected as an educational technological tool.
