The formalization of the United Nations and African Union partnership in peacekeeping: the Central African Republic experience

Abstract

This article looks at the relationship between the United Nations and the African Union in peacekeeping settings. It also takes into account the role played by the regional economic organizations in this context. The article analysis the existing legal framework as well as the evolving practice, underlying the increasing institutionalization of such relationships. After scrutinizing the framework partnership, it looks into the Central African Republic experience with the aim of asserting whether and to what extent such framework has been applied.
