Abstract
Domestic Violence is a serious phenomenon of our time which requires a multilevel State intervention. While investigating in this area and trying to understand it, it is fundamental to acknowledge the problem in its full extent and resort to a comprehensive multi-disciplinary approach, based on the contributions of distinct but complementary social sciences, such as Law, Phycology, Sociology, among others. In this paper we will enhance the role each of these sciences plays in the understanding of the emergence of domestic violence and their contributions to the improvement of State intervention in this subject.
