Abstract
This article focuses on the relationship between research and professional practice,based on the research experience conducted along the Master degree in Social Work. It aims to understand the point of view of professionals regarding the relationship between the professional practice and research, as well as their perception about the place of research in the 1st and 2nd Year of formation. Empirically, the study adopted a qualitative, exploratory approach by undertaking interviews with social workers with BSc and MSc in Social Work. The results highlighted the role of the Master degree as a functional link between research and professional practice, the significance attached to research methodology in the formation of social workers, albeit with different perspectives about what is expected of the bachelor and master courses.
