Abstract

When migrants arrive in France, they face a language barrier. For the State, there is no place in their specific actions for translation/interpretation. Why? The result is the abandonment and negation of the cultural roots of migrant’s identities in order to merge into a new group of belonging. This formatting and adaptation to political imperatives and institutional norms becomes utopian on the field. It is precisely there that migrants and the local population who have concrete difficulties in their interactions, will develop their own strategies of linguistic translation and affirmation of their values, opening on both sides a door of contact between one culture and another.
