The role of drawing in animated films

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingConference contributionpeer-review

Abstract

Historically, the role of drawing in traditional animation was unequivocal. How has this role been affected or changed by the
advent of computer animation, and the increasingly widespread use of digital tools in animation? Can the contemporary animator work exclusively with these digital tools and forego the use of drawing, or are these tools an extension of traditional drawing utensils?
