    Abstract

Leonardo Coimbra’s and Levinas’s anthropology is built on the basis of the relationship between the self and the other in a perspective not only immanent but also transcendent, that is, on the openness to the infnity that is manifested on the face of the other in an ascending dialectic. To Leonardo the man is in an essential relation with the other and with the others, in a cosmic horizon. Terefore, the man is released aiming for the infnite and eternity, in a historical and trans-historical perspective. Also for Levinas the relation with the other is an essential relation having the time as element, as if time were the transcendence and the infnite.
