Abstract
Today, one can easily find on the internet audiovisual translation (AVT) environments in which common citizens trans- late contents from different origins based on their technical devices and linguistic skills, without having necessarily a background in translation. The fundamental aim of this re- search is to understand whether the target versions created in such environments might influence the understanding of the Other. The object of study will be the French comedy Bienvenue chez les Ch’tis, while a challenging content in any translational circumstance. Ultimately, I wish to contribute to the work that has been published about it, both by introducing a new linguistic pair —French-Portuguese— and by pursuing a doubly comparative analysis: between two linguistic variants —the European Portuguese and the Brazilian Portuguese— and two translational contexts —professional and non-professional.
